"Latha na bainnse" is a beautiful Gaelic phrase that translates to "wedding day" or "the big day" in English. In Scottish tradition, this phrase carries the weight of centuries of celebration and commitment.
As the old saying goes: "Tha latha na bainnse a' tighinn a-mach!" — "The wedding day is coming!" These words have been whispered by excited couples across the Scottish Highlands for generations, carrying with them the anticipation, joy, and promise of a lifetime of love about to begin.
With love,
Alex & Jody

Perched proudly beside the River Tweed in the Scottish Borders, Neidpath Castle has stood since the 14th century—its thick walls echoing with centuries of regal visits, romantic tales, and a ghost or two! Once a key stronghold of the powerful Hay family, it welcomed Mary, Queen of Scots, endured Cromwell's cannons, and inspired writers like Sir Walter Scott.
Legend whispers of the tragic "Maid of Neidpath," whose spirit roams its winding halls to this day. With its soaring tower, ivy-clad walls, and timeless views of rolling hills, Neidpath offers a uniquely enchanting setting—perfect for a wedding steeped in Scottish history and filled with stories your guests will never forget.

Food & Drink
We’re excited to share that our wedding will be catered by the wonderful Cooks & Co, who have put together a delightful Scottish tapas menu for everyone to enjoy.
We’ve always loved the fun, relaxed atmosphere of tapas-style dining—passing around plates and sharing good food—and we wanted our wedding meal to capture that same spirit.
Drinks
We'll be hosting an open bar with a variety of beers, wines, spirits, and mixers, as well as some non-alcoholic options. If you'd like to bring a special bottle of your own, let us know and we'll keep it aside for you—but remember, we're all friends here, so feel free to share (and sample) freely! Above all, we hope everyone has a fantastic time and enjoys the celebration responsibly.
Dietary Requirements
If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know when you RSVP so we can make appropriate arrangements with our caterer.

While Neidpath Castle is located in Peebles, it can be a 30-60 minute walk to some of the hotels in town. Please note that most local taxi firms don't typically operate on weekday evenings unless they have advance bookings. Scottish weather can be unpredictable, even in July. We recommend bringing layers and potentially a light jacket or wrap for the evening, as well as an umbrella just in case.
Things to Remember
Neidpath Castle is a beautiful, historic venue, and we want to help preserve its charm. Please do not bring your own confetti, we will provide our own. Thank you for helping us keep this wonderful place special!
